Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between hookbaits and regular boilies?

Hookbaits are made to perform on the hook. They are often rolled harder, keep longer and are sometimes given extra flavouring or colour. Feed boilies are softer and meant to release their flavour quickly on the baited area.

How do I stop small fish from wrecking my hookbait?

Choose a hard hookbait or a larger size. Hard hookbaits withstand bream, roach and crayfish, so your bait is still firmly on the hook after hours.

Should my hookbait have the same flavour as my feed?

It doesn't have to, but it does build confidence: your hookbait then doesn't differ from what the carp has already eaten safely. The opposite works too: a contrasting, bright bait as an eye-catcher. Vary and see what the water does.

How long can a hookbait stay on the rig?

A good hookbait lasts for many hours. Refresh your bait with every new cast or at least a few times per session: the flavour release decreases over time.

Alles over hookbaits

Hookbaits: the bait that does the work

You can feed as nicely as you like, the fish is caught on that one bait on your rig. Hookbaits are boilies and baits made specifically to perform on the hook: harder, longer-lasting and often with an extra dose of flavour.

Types of hookbait

  • Hard hookbaits – rolled extra hard, resistant to crayfish and small fish
  • Pop-ups – floating hookbait that hangs above the bottom
  • Wafters – balanced hookbait for a natural presentation
  • High-attract hookbaits – bright colours and extra flavour as an eye-catcher

How to pick the right hookbait

First look at the bottom: clean and hard calls for a wafter or regular boilie, dirty or soft for a pop-up. Then look at the pressure on the water: heavy angling pressure calls for an inconspicuous bait, quiet water can take a bright eye-catcher. And finally match your feed: the same flavour builds confidence.

Our hookbaits are based on the same proven flavours as our freshly rolled boilies. So the picture is consistent from feed to hookbait.
